How to choose the best photo for a pet portrait
Practical guide
The perfect photo almost doesn’t exist — but these help a lot
At Petecoart we hand-illustrate from your photo. The clearer your pet’s expression, the more faithful and beautiful the portrait. You don’t need a studio — a good phone photo is enough.
✅ Photos that work great
- Eyes toward camera (or close): personality shows.
- Natural light: by a window, no harsh flash.
- Sharp face: eyes in focus, no motion blur.
- Simple background: sofa, wall, garden — not chaos behind.
- Decent resolution: if it falls apart when you zoom, pick another.
❌ Better avoid
- Strong backlight (face goes dark).
- Far-away shots or the pet facing away.
- Heavy filters or ultra-compressed WhatsApp screenshots.
- Several pets piled together with no clear faces (for 2+, one clear photo each is better).
Silvia’s tip
If you’re stuck between two photos, choose the one that makes you smile. Technical likeness matters — and so does the spark in the eyes.
